Google Search Engine get your website seen in 2021

When Will Google See Me?

Feb 12, 2021 | Websites

When will Google, the gigantic search engine, see my website?

Understanding a bit more about the Google process in 2021

Let us start off by saying that Google are actually quite secretive. They are brilliant at finding answers to our questions but not so great at answering questions about themselves or their processes.

Google keeps their algorithms around searches very close to their chest. Their formulas for Google Ads are kept hush hush too. What we’re interested in is Google’s web crawler. Most specifically, how often the crawler roams the net and indexes – or exactly how long it will take for your website to start ranking in Google searches.

If we build a new site, we advise that it can take up to 3 weeks for the website to show in Google search results. (Don’t even ask about Bing) And even then, you may need to scroll through the pages of results because you’re so new. Read more about how Google works here.

Here’s what Google has to say.

What about an updated website?

This is where the secretive Google comes into play. Google’s web crawling program is called Googlebot, and this is what Google say about the crawling process – ‘Googlebot uses an algorithmic process to determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site.’ [1] Notice what they did there? Yep, we’ve no clue how often they’ll be visiting your site.

As a rule, if you’ve had your site updated and worked on the Search Engine Optimisation it will take 90-180 days for your rankings to really be impacted [2]. Googlebot is trawling billions of websites so be patient! There are other ways to help to boost the impact of your new material as well and we discuss those elsewhere.
